Change Makers Project

5th Year BITE students took part in the Change Makers project which was held in DCU. The project ran across 8 half-days. The DCU Access team ran it in collaboration with College Connects. Students from BITE and Youth Reach attended, as well as DCU students who acted as mentors, and for whom the project was an accredited module on their course.

During the sessions the students studied the topics Leadership, Power and Change. They discussed different theories of power and how they could enact change within their communities. Two guest speakers from Ballymun joined different sessions to discuss how they have influenced change within Ballymun - Alice Walsh, who is a board member of BITE, and Dean Scurry.

The graduation was a fantastic evening to celebrate a progressive project and commitment by DCU to actively engage with young people in Ballymun and a moment to celebrate the BITE and Youth Reach students who had so valuably contributed to the project.

Well done to all involved.
